Space application for detecting Aedes mosquito risk areas

Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya are viral diseases transmitted by the same mosquito, the Aedes species. In recent years, the spread of these diseases has become a worldwide issue for public health. The rapid spread of the Aedes mosquito has affected vast areas which cannot be monitored with terrestrial methods. At the same time, the early identification of vulnerable areas is crucial to control the advancement of diseases. DIPTERON application can detect such risk areas based on artificial intelligence that combines satellite and ground data with a prediction model of 4 weeks in advance for Aedes outbreaks. It identifies high, medium, and low risk areas for the presence of Aedes mosquitos through a heat map. DIPTERON application allows decision makers to take mitigation actions, reducing the costs of campaigns and remediation actions and the risk of a fatal disease.
