Tomorrow, on the 28th April at 15.30 CET, the PARSEC Accelerator Team represented by Weronika Borejko (EARSC) on the growth of the Earth Observation (EO) sector to the participants of the virtual Copernicus Hackathon Sofia 2020 “Space Hacking of COVID19”. We are excited to have the opportunity to meet the Bulgarian and European specialists in the field of information technologies, physics, mathematics, earth sciences, etc. and hope that many of them will continue developing their innovative ideas after the virtual hackathon and join the PARSEC Accelerator ecosystem.

About the virtual Copernicus Hackathon Sofia 2020

The Copernicus Hackathon Sofia 2020 is the second Copernicus Hackathon organised by The Office for transfer of aerospace technologies – RST-TTO. This year it takes place online from the 24th April 2020 until the 8th of May 2020. For two consecutive weeks, programmers, GIS and image processing specialists, graphic and interface designers, project managers and thematic experts will use EO to solve different challenges brought by COVID-19 in areas such as smart cities, Danube and the Black Sea monitoring, EO & AI for e-Government, and others. The winning team of 3 to 5 people will obtain the Grand Prize – one seat for the Copernicus Accelerator, organised by the European Commission. A variety of other rewards will be offered to the participants by different sponsors and partners of the event.

About the PARSEC Accelerator Open Call 2

The Open Call 2 will distribute €1.5M equity-free funding to innovative SMEs and start-ups and provide access to the PARSEC Accelerator second stage. It is open for cross-sectoral and/or cross-border consortia of 2-4 innovators (start-ups, SMEs, researchers…) where at least one of the members is a winner of the PARSEC Accelerator Open Call 1 (#100PARSEC). Interested consortia have to submit their application until 20 June 2020 at 17:00 CET and pitch their Earth Observation-based innovations for Food, Energy or Environment at the PARSEC Demo Days on 2 and 3 July 2020. A jury consisting of industrial CEOs, investors and business leaders will select 15 winning consortia (#15PARSEC) that will each receive €100.000 equity-free funding and business support services such as PARSEC business catalysts, investment readiness programme, and export promotion services.
